School Uniform

At Motcombe CE VA Primary School the Governors believe that all children should wear clothing that is in keeping with a purposeful learning, ethos and environment.   A complete list of the items needed for children’s school uniform is in this policy.

Online ordering can be done via the following link: www.schoolwearandmore.co.uk

School ties can be purchased from the school office at £3.00 for an elasticated tie and £3.50 for a non elasticated tie. Some second hand jumpers and cardigans are also available to purchase.

Our policy for children’s school uniform is based on the belief that a school uniform:

  • promotes a sense of pride in the school
  • engenders a feeling of community and belonging
  • is practical and smart
  • identifies the children with the school
  • is not distracting in class (as fashion clothes might be)
  • makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance
  • is regarded as suitable, and good value for money, by most parents
  • has been designed with health and safety in mind

  • Summer and Winter uniforms as well as Sports Uniform will be prescribed and are required to be worn during school hours, while travelling to and from school and when students are representing the school during outside school hours occasions.
  • All children representing the school for any event or activity may only do so when wearing full school uniform unless decided otherwise by the Headteacher.
  • For safety reasons, jewellery (including sunglasses), with the exception of watches and plain stud or small “sleeper” earrings, is not permitted.
  • Obvious hair colouring and extreme or attention seeking hairstyles are not permitted.  For safety and health reasons it is recommended that children with shoulder length or longer hair, have it tied back.
  • Coloured or clear nail polish and other cosmetics are not permitted.
  • All clothing must be of reasonable and clean condition.  Shirts including polo shirts to be tucked in.  Torn or ripped clothing must be mended, patched or replaced as appropriate.
