Sex and Relationship Education
This subject is taught as part of the PSHE scheme of work through Reception to Year 6 and also links to learning about the body in science. Year 6 children will receive specific sex education sessions, usually in same-sex groups. Parents are given the opportunity to see the teaching materials for themselves and have an explanation as to how they are to be used. Staff will ensure that any visitors’ contributions are consistent with the governors’ policy and statutory requirements.
Parents can withdraw their children from all or part of the sex education provided, except that which is required as part of National Curriculum. A copy of our policy can be obtained from the school office.
